So I’ve been sick.


First and most importantly Jonathan and I give thanks to God our Father who is clearly guiding this unexpected path in our life.

We (and our families) are so grateful for your prayers, thoughts and encouragement over the past few weeks. I am especially grateful for those of you who have prayed for us, and those who have prayed for healing simply because you heard something was “wrong” or that I was “sick.” Many (if not all) of you have prayed blindly, without any specific knowledge of our situation, and we are grateful for your kind hearts.

Faith

          Originally my husband was not at all happy I brought home a puppy. In fact, for about the first week, he resented anything that had to do with her. There would be moments of happiness, followed immediately by frustration when thinking of the responsibility that came with her. See, to him, the puppy was a packaged deal. A little bit of happiness, a whole lot of responsibility. And he simply didn’t think the happiness could possibly outweigh the daily tasks of keeping up with her. The two pieces didn’t even out in his mind. Some days during the first week we had her, he would look at her and say something like, “You’re a heck of a lot of work, you know that?” She would just look at him and wag her tail, happy that he had taken the time to finally acknowledge her presence.

Sometimes you’re thankful when you don’t want to be.

You worship when you don’t feel like it.

You work until you almost faint from hunger.

You sit down because if you don’t, you’ll pass out.

You have no food and no time to go anywhere so you buy string cheese and peanut butter pretzels.

The Buffet of Life – Does everything happen for a reason?

          Sometimes I believe the phrase everything happens for a reason. Like the time I was stuck behind a slow car on a two lane road causing me to get stopped at a red light only to witness the cars in front of the slow car collide into each other in a massive wreck. (I know, right?)
          Sometimes I don’t believe everythinghappensforareason. Like the time I dropped a glass bowl and it shattered on my kitchen floor and I stepped on a piece of the glass and it lodged in my foot. End of story. Glass in foot.
